Healing of the Mind, Body & Soul
Mind, Body and soul are an interconnected matrix. Each impacts the other in significant ways. Turbulence in one sector impacts the other aspects of our being. Fortunately, healing in one sector also heals the total person. This session will explore the emerging frontiers of mind/body medicine with emphasis on Pranayama, Meditation and Mindfulness.
Learning Objectives
1. Discuss the origins of the practice of Pranayama, Meditation and Mindfulness in the ancient healing traditions of India
2. Demonstrate the basic practice of Pranayama
3. Introduce the participants to the fundamental tenants of Meditation practice
4. Explore the theory and practice of Mindfulness practice
About the Presenter
Ashok Bedi, M.D is a Diplomat Jungian psychoanalyst and a board certified psychiatrist and addictionologist. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association; a Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and a Training and Supervising Analyst and a faculty member at the Analyst Training Program at the Carl G. Jung Institute of Chicago. He is a Psychiatrist with the Aurora Psychiatric Hospital. He is author of several books including Path to the Soul, Weiser Books, 2000, Awaken the Slumbering Goddess: The Latent Code of the Hindu Goddess Archetypes, Booksurge Publishers, 2007 and the coauthor of Retire Your Family Karma, Nicholas-Hays, Inc. 2003.
